my first mix of 2012 features a mix of some classic trance tracks from the early/mid 2000s thrown in with those that are more recent releases. the intro is more of an experiment on the production side of things, combining a variety of samples to create a dark atmospheric lead into one of my favorite tracks of all time. enjoy.

considering how my relationship with winter has been over the past month or two, i felt “obstruction” was a good theme to take on for my latest mix, representing the constant ups and downs with the weather, my mood and nature’s spring teases, all of which end up being overwhelmed by winter’s relentless cold and snow. will we ever get there, or will winter remain an obstruction in the face of spring, and my sanity?

i totally love this! it’s part of a workshop put together by michael beruit at the yale school of art whose guidelines are as follows:

Beginning Thursday, October 21, 2010, do a design operation that you are capable of repeating every day. Do it every day between today and up to and including Friday, January 28, 2011, the last day of the project, by which time you will have done the operation one hundred times. That afternoon, each student will have up to 15 minutes to present his or her one-hundred part project to the class.

The only restrictions on the operation you choose is that it must be repeated in some form every day, and that every iteration must be documented for eventual presentation. The medium is open, as is the final form of the presentation on the 100th day.
